November 5, 2018 Louise Sparks

bbcon was back with a bang! For the first time in eight years it was held in the UK, featuring over 50 speakers sharing their stories and expertise with an audience of 250 delegates across the two days.

Take a look at our stand out moments from the amazing event…

Our fabulous team greeted delegates from 8.30am at Prospero House in London. Attendees collected their name badges along with a Blackbaud/JustGiving bag full of goodies and a reusable coffee cup.

Blackbaud International President, David Benjamin, welcomed delegates and officially opened bbcon UK 2018. He was joined on stage by Blackbaud Europe Managing Director Lianne McGrory, followed by Blackbaud Chief Marketing Officer, Catherine LaCour discussing Digital Transformation, and then Chief Products Officer, Kevin McDearis and Vice President of Data & Analytics, Steve MacLaughlin who shared with the room the big Blackbaud technology vision for the next 12 months and beyond.

A quick break allowed time to recharge with coffee (in bbcon cups of course!) and even #bbconUK branded m&ms!

The first set of sessions included presentations from Sandra Luther on the latest trends in event fundraising success, the two Dan Keyworths (yes – it wasn’t a typo) spoke about the Future of Data in Advancement.

Lunch break allowed time for delegates to mingle and chat with fellow fundraisers – plus get all the latest tips and advice from the Blackbaud and JustGiving experts.

Professor Jen Shang delivered a particularly lively session on the psychology of saying a better thank you – this was a presentation that got the audience talking!

Carol Akiwumi’s session on equality, diversity and inclusion was a real crowd winner, featuring some great content and thought-provoking points.

The end of a fantastic day! A fireside chat with Liesl Elder, Director of Development at the University of Oxford, and Amanda Bringans, Director of Fundraising at British Heart Foundation concluded the day (see our blog here) along with the announcement that Blackbaud will fund two bursaries at the University of Kent!

After a busy day full of inspiring and thought-provoking content, everyone then relaxed over a glass of wine with a little live piano and a couple of mind-blowing magicians!
